This little baby is awesome. I was a little skeptical at first, but I decided to spoil myself and try this out. Let me just say, the shipping was fast and super discreet; it arrived within a week and a half and came in a well packaged box. It comes with a carrying case and maintenance equipment for easy cleaning. It doesn't come with butane so I picked up two canisters. I've spent about 8 solid hours with it this weekend and I couldn't be happier. I've used 1/3 of my herb and only about a quarter of one butane to keep it going for more than 8 hours.

Not having to hold a lighter or mess about with prep is extremely liberating, I can simply switch my vape on and puff away to my heart's content! The only piece of advise I'd like to pass on to any potential customers is that you have to be patient with both the machine and the learning process. If you're not 100% on the instructions (the manual was a little hard to read) Google it and see how it's done... don't get frustrated if it isn't right the first couple times. I had to learn the wait times and realize that my particular herb doesn't take the advertised 45 seconds to combust... it's really more like 4 or 5 minutes to reach the proper temperature. But once you get it, you'll realize how incredible it is. Enjoy! (I know I do!)

I really don't know why other people aren't so fond of this vaporizer, I think the iolite is the most revolutionary portable vaporizer. Honestly? Who would ever think of using Butane as the source power, instead of attachable batteries. Well the iolite did it, using a catalytic converter to heat up the herb chamber and it also has an exhaust system for the gas ( for those who doesn't know that ). I was also reading other reviews on this product and I read that people aren't seeing vapor mists when you exhale... That's because you need to grind your herb very fine, so more oxygen can be passed in the herb chamber. So I would recommend using the keif and if possible grind your herb fine as possible to ensure gnarly smoking pleasure. Although the vape takes 45 seconds to heat up (notice the orange light [ that means it's heating up]), I would recommend waiting for an extra 5 min to allow the heat chamber to reach it's highest moderate temperature which is 374 degrees. And you will not worry about how to to keep the heat constant because the iolite itself has a thermostat to keep heating itself automatically. When you flip the switch to "1" from "0", you will hear a "shhhhhhhhh" sound, that is the exhaust taking action, and it's not that loud. It's like comparing hearing it to a gas stove when you turn it on. So Once you reach to that temp. and that you already put your fine herb in the herb chamber it's ready to inhale. You need to remember to grind your herb very fine or else you can't see vapor. I've already been to concerts, and movies and other events and used this all the time, It's the best way to be discreet for an awesome toke, and a good session would last up to 20 min depending on how much you put in. So If you follow how to use it properly, you will be able to pass it around with a total of 3 people. So It's definitely a great vaporizer to invest in. Why? Because 1) It's DISCREET 2) GIVES NO ODOR 3) You'll be OUT IN SPACE by the time your session is done. So I give it an automatic 5 stars.
So comparing it to any vaporizer.... The iolite definitely kicks the Vapir ass and it's up the volcano's level. Oh and it can fit in your pocket so well. and so light, maybe lighter than your cell phone. Just a really awesome vape, the best investment ever in my life. Hope this review comes in handy

I bought this vape for college to help reduce smell. I have never made a better purchase! This thing far surpasses any other vaporizer out there. I have vaped out of everything and this is by far my favorite. I even prefer it over my volcano, its that good. The portability and thick thick hits make this thing unbeatable.

Wrote up a review a few days ago:

I bought the white one at a local headshop.

Few things I've noted for those of you considering the Iolite:
-You have to be a little patient with it. It can take up to 5 minutes to come on, and then another minute or so to heat up.
-Filling it can be interesting. Butane gets sprayed a bit, but this might just be because I'm not good at it yet.
-The mouthpiece gets hot, but not any hotter than hitting a joint or blunt would be.
-There is a bit of cooldown time between sessions as the unit expels excess heat and fuel.

On to the good:
-It rips your face off. After about 10 minutes I was pleasantly toasted.
-There are very very faint vapor clouds, so it is very discreet.
-The sound is minimal, any background noise at all would drown it out. It is quieter than a running laptop.
-The taste is nice when packed with good bud.
-It's very efficient - one half bowl pack will go for 15 to 20 minutes and get you very stoned. I was sharing with anywhere between 2-7 people and repacking was few and far between.
-I was using it in a room that is constantly smoked in, so I can't comment as to how faint the smell was because the entire room already smelled like pot. There was no distinct odor coming out of the unit, nor the clouds.

The high is a bit different than smoking, but is very nice. You can certainly achieve couch-lock status in a few sessions. It really does a nice job of conserving bud - I got very high off two sessions that were maybe .2-.3 grams each.

A few cautions:
-Make sure you are using high-quality, refined butane. I'm using Xikar, the clerk at the headshop recommended Vector. I got a bottle of the Xicar that's the size of a spray paint can for about $9.
-Invest in a grinder. I got a sharpstone 4-piece with clear lid and love it. It was $45, but obviously there are cheaper grinders. I can't wait to put kief in this thing.
-Spent $235 on the vaporizer itself. In the box are instructions, a carrying case, and some spare parts.
-People that complain about it not working are either not being patient enough, or are using low-quality butane. The manufacturer stands by the product. I've read about plastic mouthpieces breaking off, but mine has not yet. I'm fairly gentle with my expensive items.
-Treat it right and it will treat you right. Let it warm up and cool down at the pace the instructions say, don't overuse the button. Friend might want to click it to have it turn on the heating element right away - just have them wait a minute. The built in temperature control will keep it at the right temperature for vaporization.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the mouthpiece seems fragile and heats up a bit. Nothing I can't fanagle a solution for though, once I'm in the right state of mind =).

It doesn't get you as high as actually smoking, unless you're smoking on it for 2 straight hours by yourself. The sound is stealthy, but audible. It's alright, but as a smoker, I like to smoke.
It looks like a handheld walkie-talkie.

I really like my new Iolite, but be clear this is a personal use item. If you want to share with others, you kind of need to pack your own. Its very unique even when compared to other vaporizers.

A great product if you need something thats discreet, quiet, and near odorless, this is for you.

If you and two roommates are going in on it, maybe go for a Volcano.

It's the real deal. It does the trick. Looks like a cell phone, very little smell. Not silent, it does produce a quite 'whooshhhhhh'-like sound, audible in the same room (but not the next), not loud. If you think it sounds good like a good idea, don't think twice about it, odds are you'll love it.
