5 Habits Of A Responsible Adult Stoner

When you first start smoking herb, you’re probably going to be a little reckless and irresponsible. After all, you’re just becoming acquainted with the wonderful world of weed. Eventually though, it’s time to be an adult about it.

Conserving Your Stash

In my younger stoner days, I was constantly smoking my stash too quickly. As a result I was frequently out and had to resort to other means, like smoking resin, to get stoned. Now that I’ve gotten a little older, I’m better at conserving my stash and making it last. I don’t even remember the last time I had to resort to smoking resin. This is something that takes practice and most importantly, a little will power.

Knowing When You Don’t Need To Smoke More

As with most things, it’s important to know your limits. Eventually you get to a point where you’re sufficiently stoned and smoking more would be a waste of herb. This goes hand in hand with knowing how to conserve your stash. Sure, you could load one more bowl, but do you really need to? Your future self will thank you. Along with knowing your limits, responsible adult stoners also know when it’s better not to be stoned. For example, if you have a job interview in an hour, you know that it would be better not to show up baked out of your mind.

Not Spending Money You Don’t Have

It sucks to be out of weed, but if you can’t afford more, then you shouldn’t buy more. For one, you don’t want to be that person who says constantly, “I’ll pay you next week.” Asking for a front every once in awhile is fine, but you don’t want to do it every time. Don’t be that person that your hookup is complaining about to other people. You also don’t want to take money that you have budgeted for rent and other bills and use it to buy more. You need a roof over your head and working lights more than you need herb.

Taking Care Of Business

Responsible adult stoners know how to prioritize. That is, they know how to be stoners and still take care of responsibilities like going to work, taking care of their children, and doing other adult things. This is called being a “functional stoner.” Basically, responsible adult stoners know how to take care of business. They love their weed, but they don’t let it run their lives. When it comes to deciding whether to go to a meeting at work, or staying home and getting baked, they will choose to go to that meeting. You can always get stoned afterward.

Not Taking Unnecessary Risks

Responsible adult stoners know better than to take unnecessary risks when it comes to toking up. Yes, going on a space cruise is fun, but it’s also extremely risky because you could get pulled over. Even if you live somewhere where cannabis is legal, you can still get arrested for smoking while driving and you’ll get a DUI. Responsible adult stoners know that sometimes it’s better to keep your smoke in the safety of your home.

Honestly, being a responsible adult stoner is a great thing. You don’t run out of weed that much and it feels less stressful when you know that you’re still getting shit done. After all, you need to hold down a job and have a place to live in order to be able to keep buying herb and have a place to smoke it. You are an adult and you should make your own choices, you just have to know how to make the right ones. You’ll be happier for it.
