Buying Bong Adapters

A bong adapter is a piece of glass that bridges two different joint sizes or types, so your bowls, ash catchers, bangers, and other attachments actually fit together.

The main thing to check is size. Our bong adapters list compatibility measurements in millimeters, so know the measurements of your bong before you buy to make sure you get compatible glassware.

Outside of size, take a look at your glass to figure out what type of adapter you need. Male to male adapters increase or decrease the size of your bowl. Male to female adapters can convert your bong into a dab rig. You'll want to look closely at your bong, bowl, and any other accessories you're hoping to connect before buying, since everyone's setup is a little different.

Types of Bong Adapters

Not every adapter solves the same problem, so it helps to know which type matches your situation.

Size Converters

Size converters are the most common type, stepping a joint up or down, most often between 14mm and 18mm. If your bowl or downstem doesn't match your bong's joint, this is the fix.

Vape to Bong Adapters

Vape to bong adapters let you connect a vape pen or cartridge directly to your bong, so you get water filtration on a device that wouldn't normally have it. This is one of the most searched-for adapter types we carry, and it works with cart-style attachments too, sometimes called a cart bong adapter.

Dab Rig Adapters

Dab rig adapters convert a standard bong into a functional dab rig by swapping a bowl-compatible joint for one that accepts a nail or banger. If you already own a bong and want to start dabbing without buying a second piece, this is the cheaper route.

Mouthpiece Adapters

Mouthpiece adapters change the connection point at the top of your piece rather than the bottom, useful if you're pairing a hookah hose or a different mouthpiece style with your existing setup.

How to Choose the Right Bong Adapter

Five steps to find the right fit:

1. Measure your bong's joint diameter in millimeters. Common sizes are 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm. This one measurement rules out most of the wrong options right away.
2. Check whether your joint is male or female. A male joint tapers outward, a female joint has a recessed opening. Adapters convert between the two.
3. Identify what you're connecting it to. A differently sized bowl, a dab nail, or a vape or cart attachment all call for a different adapter type, see the breakdown above if you're not sure which.
4. Pick an adapter that matches your existing joint on one end and your target size or gender on the other. This is where a glass on glass adapter earns its name, both ends need to seat properly against ground glass for an airtight fit.
5. Test the fit gently before regular use. A properly sized adapter should sit snugly without forcing. If it feels loose or won't seat, double check your measurements before using it.
