Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a 14mm and 10mm dab rig?

Mostly banger size and heat retention, 14mm holds heat a bit longer and gives more margin for timing error than the smaller, faster cooling 10mm. Between the two sizes, 14mm is the one with the longest list of compatible bangers and caps.

Is 14mm the most common dab rig joint size?

Yes, it's the standard most brands build around, which means the widest selection of compatible bangers and accessories. As the standard size, 14mm shows up across rig styles from minis to full-size recyclers. Browse matching gear in our Dab Tools and Dabbers collection.

Can I use a 10mm banger on a 14mm rig?

Not without an adapter, joint sizes need to match or you'll need a reducer to bridge the difference. To use a 10mm banger on a 14mm rig, you need a reducer adapter in the right gender.

Is a 14mm rig good for a beginner?

Yes, the extra thermal margin makes banger timing more forgiving while you're still learning. A 14mm rig is a reasonable first choice because replacement parts are easy to match.

Do 14mm rigs come in female and male joints?

Both, check the specific listing, most modern rigs run female joints to match male bangers, but some older or specialty builds reverse it. Always check whether the listing says male or female joint before pairing it with a banger.

How do I clean a 14mm banger?

Wipe with a cotton swab while still warm after each use, deep clean with iso periodically. Clean the banger regularly with a swab and iso, and wait for it to cool before handling.

Are 14mm rigs bigger than 10mm rigs overall?

Not always, joint size and overall rig size don't always scale together, check the actual dimensions rather than assuming. Read the height in the listing, since 14mm covers everything from compact to tall. For more, see our guide: Choosing the Right Dab Rig: Understanding Your Needs.
