4-piece grinders consist of four detachable parts and work in the same way as a 3-part grinder. The only real difference is that 4-part grinders feature two storage compartments in the base instead of one.

What is a 4-Part Grinder?

The top two sections are usually magnetized and come equipped with sharp teeth to grind your dry herbs to the perfect consistency. Meanwhile, the detachable sections below are usually threaded enabling you to unscrew them, giving access to the two storage chambers.

Most 4-piece grinder’s upper-middle section contains holes that let the ground herbs pass through. Then, the lower-middle section will come equipped with a pollen screen that filters out the kief which is then safely collected and stored in the base chamber. This clever system enables you to separate your herbs from your kief and safely carry it around without unwanted spills.
