Buying Bong Adapters

Bong Adapters

A bong adapter is a piece of glass that bridges two different joint sizes or types, so your bowls, ash catchers, bangers, and other attachments actually fit together.

The main thing to check is size. Our bong adapters list compatibility measurements in millimeters, so know the measurements of your bong before you buy to make sure you get compatible glassware.

Outside of size, take a look at your glass to figure out what type of adapter you need. Bong adapters come in different sizes and joint configurations. Male-to-male adapters connect two female joints, while female-to-female adapters connect two male joints. Male-to-female adapters can change a connection's size or position. Always check the joint size and gender of both pieces before choosing an adapter. You'll want to look closely at your bong, bowl, and any other accessories you're hoping to connect before buying, since everyone's setup is a little different.

Types of Bong Adapters

Not every adapter solves the same problem, so it helps to know which type matches your situation.

Size Converters

Size converters are the most common type, stepping a joint up or down, most often between 14mm and 18mm. If your bowl or downstem doesn't match your bong's joint, this is the fix.

Vape to Bong Adapters

Vape to bong adapters let you connect a vape pen or cartridge directly to your bong, so you get water filtration on a device that wouldn't normally have it. This is one of the most searched-for adapter types we carry, and it works with cart-style attachments too, sometimes called a cart bong adapter.

Dab Rig Adapters

Dab rig adapters convert a standard bong into a functional dab rig by swapping a bowl-compatible joint for one that accepts a nail or banger. If you already own a bong and want to start dabbing without buying a second piece, this is the cheaper route.

Mouthpiece Adapters

Mouthpiece adapters change the connection point at the top of your piece rather than the bottom, useful if you're pairing a hookah hose or a different mouthpiece style with your existing setup.

Whatever you're trying to connect, a glass adapter is usually all it takes to make mismatched pieces work together.

How to Choose the Right Bong Adapter Size and Joint Type

Five steps to find the right fit:

1. Check your bong's joint size. Common sizes include 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm. If your bong has an 18mm female joint and your bowl has a 14mm male joint, you'll need an 18mm male-to-14mm female adapter.
2. Identify whether your joint is male or female. A male joint fits inside a female joint of the matching size. Check both connections before buying.
3. Identify what you're connecting it to. A bowl, dab nail, vape, or cartridge attachment may require a different adapter type.
4. Check the adapter's size, gender, and angle. Choose an adapter that matches both connections. Also check whether your setup needs a straight, 45-degree, or 90-degree fitting.
5. Test the fit gently before regular use. A properly sized adapter should sit snugly without forcing. If it feels loose or won't fit, double-check your measurements.
