Smoking Pipes & Chillums | Portable Glass Chillums – Page 2

What to consider when buying a Chillum online

Chillums are very simple and ancient in their design. As mentioned previously, they have been used for thousands of years and even though the colors, styles, and materials may have changed, the effects remain constant.

Chillums look like small, hollow tubes, and they are designed for small bowls, portability, and personal smoking. The chillum consists of a small bowl at one end, and at the other end, you’ll find the mouthpiece. Made from glass, stone, or ceramic materials, the chillum is a favorite among smokers who prefer just a few little puffs, as opposed to a massive bong rip.

If you’re looking for a cheap chillum, glass is always a good option. Glass also tends to break more easily, so it’s important to keep that in mind when buying a chillum. Other options are chillum made of stone or ceramic. These chillums are more durable because they are less likely to break, and they come in a range of novelty designs to suit all personalities.

Cleaning your Chillum

Chillums are often made from borosilicate glass which means that it’s easy to clean and transparent for easy build-up detection. These glass chillum pipes can be cleaned in conjunction with how often it is used. Stone, metal, and ceramic can be tricky to know when to clean, which is why it should be cleaned regularly to ensure that it’s being cared for properly.

When you are using your chillum frequently, it’s important to keep it clean. After using your chillum you can start by taking a cotton swab to clean the inside of the chillum. With this step, you will take the tar and resin away. After a while, your chillum will get dirtier and needs a more thorough cleaning. For this, you can purchase a pipe cleaner to get the dirt out of your chillum.

A good way to clean your chillum thoroughly is with boiling water. Hold your chillum with a pair of tongs and pour some boiling water into your chillum. If this doesn't wash away all the dirt inside, it’s time to let your chillum soak in a bath of isopropyl alcohol. After you’ve done this, it’s really important to rinse off your chillum and let it dry completely before using it, so you won’t have an alcohol taste on your chillum the next time you use it.

Chillums, sometimes referred to as one-hitters or bats, are one-handed pipes that have a very long history. These pipes can be dated back thousands of years, used by Hindu Monks and holy men across India, long before tobacco reached the country’s shores. That is why this type of pipe is long associated with spiritualism and meditation practices.

Chillum pipes do not have a carb, providing a heavy hit and minimal control over airflow, meaning the bowl will burn for as long as the flame lasts. The old-school design of a Chillum hitter pipe also means it should be smoked at a 45-degree angle to ensure the herb doesn’t fall on the floor.
