Glass Ashtrays

A glass ashtray does not hold odor, wipes clean easily and takes heat without warping. It also looks better on a table than a plastic dish, and many glass designs double as decor. The weight of glass keeps the tray steady on a table so it is less likely to tip over.

Yes, glass ashtrays are safe for hot ash when they are made from tempered or borosilicate glass, which handles heat well. Avoid dropping hot embers onto thin decorative glass, and let the tray cool before moving it. A heavy base also keeps the tray steady while it holds hot ash.

Yes, you can use a glass ashtray for a pipe or a joint. Many trays have grooves or rests that hold a joint, and a deep bowl suits pipe ash. Check the listing for rests and size, since a wide tray gives a joint more room and keeps ash from spilling.

To clean a glass ashtray, dump the ash, wipe the glass with a damp cloth and use a little isopropyl alcohol for sticky resin. Our glass cleaning solutions include wipes and brushes that get into corners. Let the glass dry before you use it again so ash does not stick.

Pick the size by where the ashtray will sit. A small dish suits a desk or a nightstand, while a wide tray suits a patio table or a group session. A 4 to 6 inch dish is a good everyday size, and dimensions are listed on each product so you can compare.

A spinning glass ashtray hides ash under a lid or inside a rotating base, which keeps the table tidy and helps contain smell. Spinning designs are also easy to carry and empty. The listing explains how the lid or the spinner works, so you can compare designs before you choose.

Famous Design, Hue and Grasscity's own line appear in this collection. Check the dimensions and any lid or rest on each listing, because those details decide how well the ashtray suits your table and your routine. Designs range from floral dishes to spinning trays, and the product title usually names the style and size. For more, see our guide: The Best Way to Clean Your Glass.
