Glass Bongs

A glass-on-glass bong is a very popular bong style where the bowl or downstem connects directly to the joint via ground glass, rather than relying on a rubber grommet. It creates an airtight seal, gives a cleaner look, and is generally considered more durable than rubber-sealed connections.

It depends on how you plan to use it. Standard glass typically runs 3-4mm, which is fine for careful, mostly stationary use. A thick glass bong at 5mm or higher holds up better to regular handling, travel, and the occasional bump, at the cost of some extra weight.

A straight tube bong runs the same width from base to mouthpiece, giving a more direct, unfiltered-feeling hit and a simpler shape that's easier to clean. A beaker base bong flares out at the bottom like a lab flask, holding more water and offering more stability on a flat surface. Neither is objectively better, it comes down to whether you prioritize a cleaner hit or a sturdier base.

A mini or small glass bong is easier to handle, quicker to clean, and better suited to travel or discreet use, but it holds less water and can produce slightly harsher hits than a larger piece. A standard-size bong gives more water volume for cooling and filtration, at the cost of portability. If you're mostly smoking at home, size up. If you're moving around a lot, a mini glass bong is the more practical choice.

It depends what you value most. Glass generally gives the cleanest taste and lets you watch the smoke fill the chamber, which many smokers prefer. None of the three is universally better, the right material depends on how careful you are with your gear and what you're optimizing for.

Cheap glass bongs start well under $50 and are a reasonable entry point if you're new to glass or want a backup piece. Mid-range pieces from established brands typically run $50-150 and offer better construction and thicker glass. Premium and limited-edition pieces from brands like ROOR can run considerably higher, reflecting hand-blown construction and brand reputation rather than just material cost.
