How to Use a Nectar Collector

You'll want a dab tool to handle the concentrate and a dab torch or lighter as your heat source.

1. Heat the tip of the nectar collector with a torch until it glows slightly, then let it cool for a few seconds.
2. Skip the bowl. Place the heated tip directly onto your material.
3. Inhale through the mouthpiece as the material vaporizes on contact with the tip.
4. Let the tip cool completely before storing, and wipe it down after each use to prevent buildup.

Nectar Collectors vs. Dab Rigs

Both nectar collectors and dab rigs vaporize concentrates, but they're built for different sessions. Like the difference between a hand pipe and a bong, a nectar collector is a slimmer, more direct tool. A dab rig uses water filtration and a removable banger to cool bigger hits, but needs more setup and maintenance. The right one depends on your budget and how hands-on you want the process to be.

Types of Nectar Collectors and Dab Straws

Glass

The most traditional material, glass gives you the cleanest, purest flavor and is fairly easy to maintain. It's usually shaped like a straw with a heated tip that stays cool enough at the mouthpiece to hold safely. Pieces with built-in percolators or cooling chambers can be more fragile, so handle them carefully.

Silicone

A silicone nectar collector is a newer option built for durability and travel. Since silicone can take a drop and keep working, it pairs well with a quartz or titanium tip for anyone who wants something closer to unbreakable.

Electric

An electric nectar collector swaps the torch for a battery-powered heating element, so there's no flame to manage. Most come with adjustable temperature settings for consistent, repeatable hits. Browse our electric nectar collectors collection for terp pens and other electric dab straws.

What to Look For in a High-Quality Nectar Collector

• Material: Glass, ceramic, titanium, or silicone, pick a high-quality option from a trusted brand that holds up under heat.
• Design: A well-built tip and body that fit together snugly, with a mouthpiece that's comfortable to hold.
• Filtration: Some pieces add a percolator or glycerin chamber to cool the hit. More parts usually means more cleaning.
• Accessibility: A body that keeps heat away from your fingers and lips, so only the tip gets hot.
